Kia ora e te whānau, I hope that you are all safe and well as we prepare for Cyclone Gabrielle.
The Green Bay High School Board of Trustees have made the decision to close the school on Monday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 14th due to health and safety concerns with the approaching Cyclone Gabrielle. The safety of our students and staff is paramount and with the worst of the weather still to come, we wanted to make the decision early to allow everyone time to prepare.
It has been a really challenging start to the school year and we want to support students to get into the rhythm of the school year, while recognising that we don’t know what the next 24-48 hours will bring for any of us. Information about online learning is outlined below, however, we understand that it may not be possible for some students.
Online learning
Work will be posted on student’s subject Google Classroom pages from 10am on Monday, February 13th. Students are encouraged to check their emails for google classroom codes.
While our senior students are used to working on Google Classroom pages, we recognise that this will be tough for many of our Year 9 students who may not have met their teachers yet! Year 9 Dean Grace McCormack-Clark and Assistant Dean Lucy Hall will email a link to a loom video to support any Year 9 students who are unsure how to access their Google Classroom pages. We’ll also put the loom onto Year level class pages, for new students at other levels.
Any questions around this, please contact your child’s dean:

Take care and stay safe,
Ngā mihi nui,
