Water Safety

Green Bay High School has many beaches on its doorstep, therefore it is important students recognise water dangers, such as rips, and be confident in the water - especially with Summer (and Christmas holidays) just around the corner!

Beach Ed trips started yesterday, with classes M9JLA, W9AIT, W9CHO, and international students making the most of the great weather - putting their Beach Ed theory into practice at Orewa Beach.

This module is part of GBHS's PE Curriculum - Keeping Ourselves Safe unit. Students put into practice the skills and knowledge they have learned in Health. Beach Ed days also include a tour of the Surf club and equipment, meeting lifeguards, and understanding and experiencing beach conditions firsthand, in a safe controlled, and supervised environment.
