CELEBRATING CULTURAL DIVERSITY:
Former refugee students at GBHS set up a pop-up Refugee Day Cafe at lunchtime today.
A small number of non-refugee students, including an Egyptian student and several of our Sri Lankan Sinhalese students assisted our refugees with translation while serving Persian tea, Syrian coffee, Sri Lankan tea, Colombian coffee, and light refreshments.
It was great seeing everyone interacting and trying something different, but most of all, being part of the GBHS whānau!
World Refugee Day is celebrated annually on 20 June to honour the courage and resilience of people forced to flee their home countries due to conflict, violence, or persecution.
