Matariki Events

This year, Matariki is taking place during the term break.

Tamaki Makaurau is hosting a variety of interesting Matariki festivities, including local events such as a hautapu (traditional Matariki ceremony) on Piha Beach; tree planting at Eco Matters; guided meditation in the Stardome; watching the Sand Man tell stories using sand art; free fish head soup & hot chocolate at Silo Park while watching the Vector lights display on the bridge; weaving sessions with Manahua Weavers Collective at the Maritime Museum, and Matariki community meals in Glen Eden.
