Jack Hansen (Year 13) has been selected for the NZ Junior Men’s Epeé team to compete at the Junior and Cadet Commonwealth Fencing Championships in July in Christchurch.

"There is a bit of a process to gettting selected," says Jack.

"Basically it's a ranking system based on competition results throughout the year."

Jack has been fencing for the past five years, and became interested in the sport when he took part in an after school programme at GEIS.

"It keeps me busy, and it's a good (fencing) community."

Travelling with the NZ team to Christchurch, Jack will be taking part in the championships from Friday 12 July to Friday 19 July 2024.
