GBHS 1st XI Cricket History with Ajaz Patel

A special gathering for GBHS's top Cricket players took place in the school auditorium on Wednesday night (25 February 2026) as the team were presented with the first ever Green Bay High School 1st XI baggy!

Baggy caps were presented by Black Caps local Ajaz Patel to the 11 boys.

"This is not just a ceremony tonight; this is history for Green Bay Cricket," said Aaron Russell (coach) on the night.

"You are not just receiving a cap – you are becoming the first to ever wear it!"

"This is not the start of a normal season – it is a beginning of a legacy. There are no previous names etched before yours. No legacy to inherit. You boys are the legacy!"

The prestigious 'baggy cap' is more than fabric and stitching. It is a belief. It is a courage and it is a beginning of something that will outlive us all.

The 1st XI Boys' Cricket team, selected following trials, including a 40-Over game, is playing its first full season in the 1B competition for many years.
