Spirit of Adventure

Jacob Kite (Year 12) is about to set sail on a 10-day Spirit of Adventure voyage, from Auckland to the Bay of Islands.

Encouraged by his whanau, Jacob applied for the SOA Scholarship, together with a letter of endorsement by form teacher, whaea Tia McIver, and was pleased to hear he was successful in his application.

A keen sailor, with years of experience in the Sea Scouts, Jacob is looking forward to meeting new people, boosting his confidence and unlocking leadership potential, while aboard the two-masted topsail schooner during Voyage 889 (18 - 27 March. 2024).

The Spirit of Adventure Trust Board was founded in 1972 with the Trust's ship 'Spirit of Adventure' launched in 1973. The first youth voyage took place in 1974 and continues helping young people in New Zealand to reach their potential.
