Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Congratulations to Year 13 students Alice Hughes and Isak Raccuglia...
Alice and Isak have received Goethe-Institut New Zealand scholarships, with an all-expenses paid trip to Wellington (flights, accommodation, meals, and activities)!
Twelve German language students nationwide have been selected to take part in an German Immersion Weekend in Wellington (Friday 10 May - Sunday 12 May 2024).
Alice and Isak, who have studied German since Year 9 at Green Bay High School, are looking forward to experiencing German culture, cuisine and language alongside like-minded students.
Isak, who took part in a student exchange program to Germany over the Christmas break, enjoyed spending two months immersed in the culture. Reciprocal German exchange student, Adrian Zach (Year 12) is currently staying with them and attending GBHS. Isak says this experience is helping his language skills. "I'm not fluent, but getting there!"
Alice says the weekend in Wellington will challenge her to extend her conversational German and is looking forward to meeting new people who share the same interests.
Goethe-Institut New Zealand scholarships aim to promote the German language and establish international connections. If you would like to know more about these amazing opportunities, please contact HOD/German language teacher, Nicole Polke via email: [email protected] (or) phone 817-8173 ext 238.
