Kia ora koutou;
Today marks the final day of the NCEA external exams. I am incredibly proud of the effort, focus, and resilience our senior students have shown throughout these past few weeks. I would also like to acknowledge the dedication of our GBHS team, particularly Deputy Principal Kheang Ov and our Assessment Data Manager Amber Osborn, who have worked tirelessly to support students during this period.
A real highlight of the week was Tuesday’s Halberg All Abilities Sports Day. This event is always special, and it was wonderful to see so many of our students volunteering their time to support young people from schools across West Auckland. Their encouragement, patience, and genuine enthusiasm helped create an inclusive, uplifting day where every participant had the opportunity to shine. Our students represented the school with real mana, and we are grateful for the way they stepped into this role.
As we move into the final days of term for our junior students, there are plenty of exciting activities planned. This is a time to enjoy the end of the school year and look forward to the summer to come. I am looking forward to enjoying these last few days of the term and all the excitement of the Amazing Race, Softball Day and celebrating our students’ successes in all manner of activities.
Ngā mihi nui, Fiona Barker
