Welcome back to Term 3! It's now business as usual for our winter sports teams, with five more weeks of season games before the much-anticipated Winter Tournament Week in Week 7.
Our Senior Netball teams had their last round-robin games on Tuesday, and three of our teams have finished in the Top 4 of their grades, progressing them to next week's semi-finals! The Premier Girls' team still have few more round-robin games to go and are sitting first equal on the table after their 30-21 win against Lynfield College. GBHS's Premier Netball team are having a sausage sizzle and bake sale fundraiser this Sunday (26 July) outside Green Bay New World - and would love your support! The team are raising funds for their upcoming UNISS (Upper North Island Secondary School) Netball tournament in Hamilton.
The 2nd XI and 9A Girls' Football teams had dominant wins on Wednesday afternoon. The 1st XI Girls' team didn't have a game this week as they prepare for the Knockout Cup that starts next week. This will be their first taste of Premier level football before joining the grade next season. Our Boys' Football teams get another week of rest.
We had two great wins for our Junior Blue and Open A Boys' Basketball teams on Wednesday night. The Junior Green and Junior Blue teams put on a great show of camaraderie, talent and pride for our Open Evening guests who witnessed first-hand the amazing sporting culture we have built at GBHS, well done boys! The U17 Green Boys' team and U17 Blue Boys' team return this Thursday evening for their first games back. Results to be posted here.
While there are no Hockey games this week. The Boys Hockey Team will play off for 1st/2nd next week against Henderson High School, and our Girls' team will have their last round-robin game against Avondale College.
The Boys' 1st XI Football team play at Mahurangi College this Friday evening.
Junior Netball and Rugby resume this Saturday. U85 Rugby Boys' team have a Home Game (kick-off 12:00pm) against Sacred Heart College, this'll be a great game to watch!
