Introducing our NEW staff

GBHS warmly welcomes our newest staff members of 2026, and are pleased to introduce Nichola Jones and Ruihan Yu in this week's newsletter:
(Teacher Aide) Nichola Jones - Kia ora, I’m excited to join the Learning Support team as a Teacher Aide at Green Bay High School. Having spent my own childhood growing up and attending school in Christchurch, I moved to Auckland, where I have lived locally for over the past 10 years with my two children. I’m passionate about my whānau, friends, theatre on ice skating competitions with Blades of Gordy (!) and making precious metal jewellery as a hobby. I also enjoy teaching children and teenagers film making and acting skills during school holiday workshops which I started 15 years ago, and I’m looking forward to working with the students of Green Bay High School.
(Business Studies) Ruihan Yu - Kia ora, I’m excited to be joining the Commerce department at Green Bay High School. Originally from China, I moved to New Zealand by myself when I was 15 years old, where I completed high school before studying a Bachelor of Commerce, so I’ve experienced what it feels like to start over, adapt to a new culture, and become independent at a young age! I hope I can bring those experiences into my teaching and help students build confidence as they prepare for life beyond school. Before university, I took a gap year and ran a small business in China, which sparked my interest in business and accounting. I love showing students how their classroom lessons translate into real-world applications. I’m really looking forward to becoming part of the GBHS whānau, getting to know my students, and learning and growing alongside them.
