Hip Hop Silver

Congratulations to Manawa Te Wiki (Year 9), who has recently returned from the Hip Hop International World competition in Phoenix, Arizona, bringing home a silver medal!

This is a fabulous achievement, dancing and competing alongside the world’s best.

Manawa dances with IDCO, Identity Dance Company, in the Varsity Mega crew, YUNG ID.

Having qualified for this level of competition back in April, when his crew achieved first at Nationals, has meant he and his teammates have continued to work hard training over the term break for 40-50 hours each week. They continued to train in Phoenix before taking the world stage and representing their country, Aotearoa NZ, in three rounds.

Next on the agenda is the UPGRADE finals on the Gold Coast in October, where Manawa and his teammates look forward to achieving their goal of standing on the podium once more.
