PPTA Strike Day

PPTA Strike Day Wednesday 20 August 2025 -
Kia ora e te whānau; The PPTA has advised our board that its PPTA Te Wehengarua members covered by the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (“STCA”) will hold a nationwide one-day strike next Wednesday, 20 August 2025, in response to the Government’s offer for settlement of their collective agreement negotiations.
The board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff, and unfortunately, decided that we cannot provide normal instruction during the strike day.
Green Bay High School will be closed for instruction (Wednesday, 20 August 2025).
If your child needs to be supervised at school on Wednesday, 20 August, please contact Deputy Principal Sandy Begg before Tuesday, 19 August, to make arrangements. Please note that students who are supervised at school will be working online and independently.
- The Whānau Hui scheduled for Wednesday, 20 August, will still go ahead (6.00 pm, school auditorium foyer).
EOTC (offsite events) previously scheduled for Wednesday, 20 August, will still go ahead as planned: - Mathex Competition

Partial Strikes - Rostering Home (Week 10 / Term 3):
Between 15th September and 18th September 2025, there will be a series of partial strikes. Each strike will be from 9.00 am to 3.15 pm. During those times, PPTA members will not teach, instruct or supervise students in certain year levels but continue to teach all other students. Teachers will also continue to do administrative work in the time that they would usually have been teaching students in the affected year levels.
Timing of Year levels affected:
- 15 September 2025 - Years 12 and 13 (rostered home)
- 16 September 2025 - Year 11 (rostered home)
- 17 September 2025 - Year 10 (rostered home)
- 18 September 2025 - Year 9 (rostered home)
