Kakehashi Day

Friday, 12th June 2026 at 12:30pm

GBHS's senior Japanese students went to Auckland University yesterday for the annual Kakehashi Day, joining students from seven other schools Auckland-wide to celebrate Japanese language and culture, practice their skills, and build new friendships!

It was an incredible day of connection, learning, and some fantastic achievements:

🎎Trivia Quiz Success: Congratulations to Year 11 students Kobe Cannell, Alice Simpson, Elly Oh, and Isobel Beaumont, who put their knowledge to the test and took out an impressive 2nd place in the Trivia Quiz competition.

🎎Leading the Fun: Congratulations to Riko Kono (Yr 12), Miharu Tanaka (Yr 11), and Yunon Watanabe (Yr 12), who, alongside Beate sensei, did an awesome job running the ultra-tricky 'Say the Same, Do the Opposite' game for the groups of students.

We are so proud of how our seniors represented our school. It was a positive, rewarding, and fun-filled day.
