4th Year in top sport! GBHS Fencing Team

Congratulations to the top GBHS boys' Fencing team who won their competition (including a close match against MAGS) on Sunday, 8 June 2025, to remain the top Fencing North Secondary School team...for the 4th year running!

Fencing North covers the Auckland and top half of the North Island. The team have earnt the school a place in the National Secondary Schools' team event, which will be held in Christchurch, late August.

Fencers in the A team:

• Travis West-Hill (Yr 13)
• James MacDonald (Yr 13)
• Matias Ureta (Yr 11)

Braden Clemmett (Yr 13) and Alex Menzies (Yr 11) were 2/3rds of the boys team who won Poule B! Great fencing and team work from them, both are hoping to join the National Secondary School's competition in Christchurch.

Avisa Asghari (Yr 10) and Madison Shores (Yr 13) fenced in teams in the girls' competition. With a delayed start in the morning, it was a long day of competing for them - finishing around 4pm. Their energy, grit and teamwork was impressive, especially for their first competitive teams competition. We are looking forward to seeing more from them over this season!
