02 Chemistry: AsureQuality
Thursday, 15th May 2025 at 2:30pm
GBHS's level 2 Chemistry classes visited AsureQuality on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
AsureQuality is the biggest laboratory in all of Australasia - its location (Blockhouse Bay) was a prime site for our chemistry students to experience the facilities - and it was especially exciting as this was the first time AsureQuality had hosted a school.
Our students enjoyed a seminar explaining the processes that happen at AsureQuality as well as a full tour of the analytical chemistry laboratories.
Its role is to test all food, drink and supplements that are sold in New Zealand or for export to ensure their labelling data is correct and that they are free of pathogens and contaminants. A very important job!
Chemistry students will continue this learning in class, analysing unknown solutions for the presence of metal ions.
