Performances of the Pacific

MATARIKI EVENT:

GBHS tauira certainly put on a song and dance to celebrate Matariki (Friday 28 June 2024).

GBHS's auditorium, foyer, and forecourt were humming with manaakitanga (hospitality, generosity and kindness) as hāngī, stalls, storytelling, and performances of the Pacific - including Aotearoa, Rarotonga, Samoa, Niue and Tonga, took centre stage.

Performances by Pasifika students and our students from Te Ahi Kā and our Pasifika groups were spellbinding.

The morning ceremony, held near Waitahurangi awa, at La Rosa Reserve - complete with waita, karakia, and remembrance of whānau members who have departed over the past Matariki was a significant way to start the celebrations.

GBHS just keeps getting better and better!
