Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation Awards:

Congratulations to GBHS students Dylan Gear P9MSH and Aidan Barrett-Hamilton M10MGG, who were recognised with Training Grants for their achievements and potential in their sports: Dylan for Surf Lifesaving and Aidan for Orienteering.

Also recognised were several GBHS alumni, Isaac Gear with a Bronze award for Surf Lifesaving and Alexis Heckler with a Training Grant for Sailing.

The Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation was founded in 1996 to honour the memory of New Zealand champion and Olympic weightlifter, and proud Westie, Don Oliver.

The founders wanted to perpetuate Don's work with young people and established the foundation to provide scholarships for promising young Westie athletes in any sport who had the results and the x-factor to go on to national and/or international honours.

Further information about the Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation can be found at https://www.donoliver.org.nz/, including information about how to apply for the 2027 scholarships.
