'Currents 2024'

Congratulations to GBHS Level 3 Photography student, Maia Waikari, whose work Kainga has been selected for Currents 2024: Te Uru Secondary Art Awards and Exhibition.

Celebrating artistic talent within West Auckland high schools, each school was invited to nominate an artwork by a top Year 13 Art student, with finalist works exhibited in 'Currents 2024'.

This year’s judge is University of Auckland's Head of School at Te Waka Tūhura Elam School of Fine Arts and Design, Fiona Jack. The First Prize winner, funded by Lopdell Trust, is awarded $1,000 to assist the winner with furthering their art practice. All finalists also receive a $100 voucher kindly donated by Gordon Harris.

The overall winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony at 2pm on 30 November 2024.
