Kapa Haka Premiere

GBHS's term 3 Whānau Hui, held on Wednesday 20 August, was a wonderful opportunity to extend our hononga (strengthening connections).

The evening began with a brief kōrero about exam support, followed by a premiere public performance of our new kapa haka rōpū - this was a very special moment and one the tauira were excited to share.

Afterwards, we gathered for more kōrero and kai, and took part in a beginner's raranga workshop led by Whaea Leanne, who shared some tikanga around handling harakeke and weaving skills.

A big mihi to the Kapa Haka group and our talented kaiako, led by Te Awhina, for their manaaki and tautoko, and of course, all whānau who attended. It was a truly meaningful hui of whanaungatanga, culture, and connection.
