PROMOTING POSITIVE ATTITUDE:

Year 13 students attended a 'Resilience' Assembly yesterday (Thursday 15 August) as part of our school health programme.

Attitude (attitude.org.nz) delivers engaging and informative presentations in schools nationwide that have been specifically developed to complement the school health education programme.

Attitude presenter, Allenzo Tamatoa, discussed the concept of being resilient. Allenzo focused on how genes, environment and choices affect how we approach different situations. He commented on how one's mindset is a real indicator of how we all cope in various settings, reminding us that it is important to focus on the things we can control and try to relinquish the things we can't.

This is very topical for our Year 13s moving forward, as they are about to embark on finding a future pathway that is fulfilling. Allenzo explored key values, such as: acknowledging our strengths - something that our young people need to do more, finding passion, and meaning, in what we do and searching for a cause that we care about. These values will allow our young people to thrive and hopefully make searching for future education and job prospects less daunting and more exciting.

Attitude presenters are passionate about delivering hope-filled messages and well-being presentations aim to help unpack some of the issues and concerns that feature in the lives of teenagers.

Allenzo left our Year 13s with one remaining message that was quite inspiring: Life has chapters! Sometimes these chapters are extremely difficult to get through, whilst others are a breeze. So it's important to remember that showing up and outlasting the difficult chapters can be enough to move on to a better one. However, it's important to rely on people to help you get through those difficult times.
