Yr 10 Literacy / Numeracy Exams

Green Bay High School is continuing to offer the NCEA Literacy and Numeracy standards in 2026.

These digital exams will be held in Week 5 of Term 2. The Literacy and Numeracy standards aim to provide foundational skills to support students in further studies, work, and life. These upcoming exam sessions are an important opportunity to complete these standards in 2026.

Our English and Maths departments have been preparing your child in readiness to have a positive experience using the digital platform, and our teachers are committed to supporting your child to achieve in these assessments. • Our Maths department will be running Numeracy workshops in F1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15pm from Week 2, Term 2, until the date of the Numeracy exam. • Our English department are working closely with your child during their timetabled lessons, and are available to answer any questions or discuss further support measures with you should you have any concerns. In preparation for these digital exams, it is imperative that all Year 10 students create their NZQA Learner account (if they have not already done so) using their NSN number. This information has been emailed home to students, parents/caregivers. If you did not receive this, please contact [email protected] to update your contact details.

Year 10 Numeracy
Tuesday 19th of May (Term 2, Week 5), Periods 1 & 2, 8:40am - 10:45am
Students will need to bring a calculator with them. Any issues please discuss with your child’s mathematics teacher.

Year 10 Literacy (Reading and Writing)
WRITING: Wednesday 20th of May (Term 2, Week 5), Periods 1 & 2, 8:40am - 10:45am
READING: Friday 22nd of May (Term 2, Week 5), Periods 1 & 2, 8:40am - 10:45am

Note:
• In order to be fully prepared on the day, students need to arrive 20 mins early (i.e. 8:20am) to their allocated room (alphabetically ordered).
• Students must stay in their exam room for the full 2 hours. If they require more time, they are allowed to stay past this time. After the 2 hour exam session, students will go directly to their timetabled Form Class, and continue with their lessons for the remainder of the day.

Students will need to check their school email regarding exam room allocations and expectations. Room allocations will also be available on the Student Hub (via the “School Exam Period” tab).

In preparation for Reading, Writing and Numeracy assessments, please read over the following information:
• Be ready and be prepared, support will be provided at school
• It is important to check your device prior to the exam: NZQA DEVICE & CHECKLIST
• It is important to practise digital exams: FIND PAST DIGITAL EXAMS
• In Writing and Numeracy, you can bring your headphones to access text-to-speech functions (Polly)
• As this is a digital exam, it is extremely important that students arrive at their designated examination room with a fully charged device and with a charger
• Students who qualify for Special Assessment Conditions will be notified prior to the examination with regard to their individual needs and the expectations around this
• If you have device issues please inform your teacher immediately
