SMASHING NEW PB's:
Congratulations to Lauren Barrett-Hamilton (Year 12) who did extremely well competing as part of the NZ U18 Women's team in the Oceania Games in Fiji, last week.
Smashing two new Personal Bests, Lauren placed 4th in the High Jump, with a new PB of 1m.64 (2cm better than previous PB), 3rd in the Triple Jump with a new PB of 11m.55 (4 cm better than previous PB), and placed 4th in the 100m Hurdles.
“I was excited to go,” says Lauren, who was supported by her family (including Grandma) adding this was her first time in Fiji.
“It was a really cool experience.”
During her downtime Lauren enjoyed the sights and sounds of Fiji snorkelling in a coral reef; and watching other athletes competing in their events.
Lauren now has her sights set on the NZSS Nationals at the end of the year and hopes to qualify for the Australian National Champs, representing NZ.
Kia kaha Lauren, Kia māia, Kia manawanui - Be strong, be brave, be steadfast.
