Matias Ureta (Yr 12)

Congratulations to Matias Ureta (Yr 12) who was selected to represent New Zealand as part of the U17 and U20 Fencing teams!

Matias travelled to Jakata, Indonesia, in Feburary - competing alongside Jack Hansen (Yr 13 2025), also part of the team.

Competing on an international level is a huge step up from NZ nationwide competitions! As this was Matias' first international competition, he took the opportunity to experience the best of U17 Fencing in the Region, and to train as much as possible against Fencers from different nationalities.

This experience has put Matias in good standing for the upcoming Australian National U20s competition held next week, where he is representing New Zealand Fencing, in Melbourne.

Great form, Matias! We look forward to sharing more of your accomplishments.
