Raising School Spirit
GOLD COIN DONATION - proceeds to Cyclone Gabrielle Relief. Congratulations to everyone for getting into the School Spirit and making your House Colours shine today! The day started with roll/attendance (of course) before students put their finishing touches to house banners, flags, and fine tuning their chants and costumes. The school field was awash with colour and camaraderie with the House Parade, before inter House competitions got underway. Three legged races, relays, tug of war competions and water sponge races were just a few of the 'main events' on offer.
The day ended with a Prize-Giving for:
- Best House Chant
- Best Dressed House
- Best Dressed Staff member
- Most Vocal Student Leader
- Best Dressed student from each House
- Loudest House
- Most Memorable Moment.
Green Bay High School is always awash with colour, fun, laughter and sportsmanship during our annual House Festival. House competitions provide a sense of competition and whanau support, through a range of school based activities, and are run throughout the year with points awarded for each event. As well as school wide competitions, individual students can earn House points for outstanding academic or community based achievements. Students belong to one of five Houses which are named after our local beaches: Anawhata (black), Karekare (yellow), Muriwai (blue), Whatipu (red), Piha (green). The Leader Board, situated in Student Services, clearly shows which House is in the lead.
