Kia ora e te whānau; We are now at the end of Week 4, and Term 1 is in full swing.
Class trips have begun, assessments are starting to appear on the horizon, and this is the point in the term where habits start to show. The routines students establish now, particularly around attendance, organisation, and effort, will set the foundation for the rest of the year.
Being at school every day matters. Learning builds step by step, and regular attendance helps students stay on track, feel confident in their classes, and avoid the stress of trying to catch up. It also strengthens friendships and connections, which are key to feeling engaged and settled at school. Of course, if your child is unwell, please keep them at home as rest and recovery are important for their health and for the well-being of the whole school community.
Simple routines make a real difference. Arriving at school on time, being organised, and ready to learn each day helps students feel prepared and in control. When attendance and routines are consistent, students are better placed to manage their learning and meet expectations. Our current attendance rate for this term is over 90%, which is fantastic!
Summer sport is well and truly up and running, and it has been great seeing so many students participating. As part of their strategic planning process, the Sport Department will be sending out surveys to students and whānau next week to find out more about what’s working for you and areas for improvement. Keep your eyes out for the survey link!
Next Friday is one of the highlights of the term, our annual Carnival Day. This is a high-energy, fun-filled day designed to build House pride and strengthen our sense of belonging across the school. Expect colour, creativity, friendly competition, and plenty of opportunities for students to get involved. Whether competing, supporting, or stepping up in House spirit, every student plays a part in making the day memorable. We encourage everyone to participate, represent their House with pride, and make the most of the day.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure a positive and successful start to the year.
