Kia ora e te whānau; It’s been a fantastic week, with plenty packed into just four days.
Our Year 11 and 12 Awards Ceremony was a great way to start the week, and I’m always inspired by all that our students achieve. We celebrated academic excellence, success in vocational pathways, and the many contributions our students make to both school life and the wider community. They really are an extraordinary group of young people, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.
Last week, we received the achievement data from the latest round of CAA literacy and numeracy assessments. The results were outstanding and a real testament to the hard work of our students and staff. The Year 10 students who sat the CAA examinations achieved exceptionally well, with results well above the national averages:
Reading – 90% (national average 72%)
Writing – 86% (national average 68%)
Numeracy – 85% (national average 63%)
A huge thank you to our English and Mathematics Faculties, and to all staff across the school. Over the past two years, every Faculty has worked hard to build consistent systems that strengthen literacy and numeracy across the school. This success reflects that collective effort.
Finally, our Te Rōpū Manawa Kuaka whānau came together for their final celebration of the year. It was a particularly special evening as we welcomed new families who will be joining us next year. The warmth, pride, and sense of belonging in the room were a wonderful reminder of what makes our community so strong.
