CAA great results 2025

Kia ora GBHS whānau,

Term three has kicked off with a bang…and a whole lot of rain! It’s been really good welcoming students and staff back, and catching up on what everyone’s been up to. Even though it’s the middle of winter (and it definitely feels like it), this is the time when the hard mahi really matters. Term three can be a tough one, but it’s also a time when perseverance and showing up each day makes a real difference.

Open Evening was a fantastic reminder of everything that makes GBHS special. There was such a great buzz around the school, and I was blown away by our Year 12 tour guides and the students who helped in faculties across the school. Their confidence, enthusiasm and pride in GBHS stood out, and it was awesome to see.

One of the things I missed most while I was away was watching our students out on the sports field - it’s just not the same seeing scores pop up on Facebook! I managed to catch quite a few games this week, and despite some pretty average weather, our teams were fighting hard. A special shout-out to the Premier Netball girls, their determination and support for each other in a tight game against Hobsonville Point was impressive. They fought hard right to the very last second.

And speaking of hard work, next week is Production Week! I am looking forward to seeing ‘The Labours of Olympus’ on stage. The amount of time, effort and energy that’s gone into this show from both students and staff is incredible, and I’m so proud of what they’ve created. If you haven’t booked your tickets yet, now is the time! Click HERE to book online.

Have a great weekend,
Fiona Barker
