GBHS Newsletter: 8th December, 2023
Kia ora e te whānau, This week is the final full week of term 4…..and we’ve packed a lot into it! The Beach Ed trips up to Omaha and Orewa have been absolutely fantastic. There has been plenty of fun mixed with learning about keeping safe in the surf. I want to thank all the teachers involved and particularly Michelle Finch for all her organisation behind the scenes.
The Year 10 softball tournament is underway and they have a fantastic day for it. There will also be a Year 10 student vs teacher game at lunchtime which will be hotly contested.
The Year 13 Graduation last Friday was a wonderful event. It is really special watching each of our graduating students walk across the stage, listening to the phenomenally talented musicians and recognising those who have won awards and scholarships from tertiary institutions. I am really proud of the success of this Year 13 cohort given all of the challenges they have faced over the last few years. I am looking forward to hearing about the great things they go on to achieve.
While this is the final newsletter of the year, we’ll keep you up to date on social media with the Year 9 Rounders’ Day on Monday and the Amazing Race on Tuesday. Thanks for all your support this year and I wish you a Meri Kirihimete and summer spent with those who are important to you.
Ngā mihi nui, Fiona Barker PRINCIPAL
