West Auckland Regional Finalists award and the Excellence in Business Management: Bella Willson-Fry and Kate Adolph (Soothe).
The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) is an opportunity for students to unleash their inner entrepreneur and experience the start-up world first-hand. It is an experiential programme where students set up and run a real business. Each YES company creates their own product or service and brings this to market.
This year there were 415 incredible YES businesses spread throughout Auckland. One team took this programme to the next level. Soothe (Bella and Kate) took out the West Auckland Regional Finalists award and the Excellence in Business Management. Soothes vision is to provide sun protection and raise awareness of the damage the sun can do to your wellbeing. They produce an all organic sunstick for your scalp and face.
Kate and Bella represented West Auckland in Wellington earlier this week at the YES National Awards Finalists' Pitches (an all expenses paid trip with up to $23,000 worth of prizes up for grabs) in order to pitch one last time before a panel of judges, to see who will be named The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme Company of the Year 2023!
Soothe produces high SPF sunsticks that are ethically sourced, biodegradable, and use natural ingredients plus zinc oxide. Soothe products are waterproof, and have been tested in rough conditions. 10% of all profits go towards Cancer Society New Zealand.
