Year 9 students took part in the second installation of their LifeChanger programme 'The Power of Words' this week.
Interactive workshops, discussions, and fun activities provided students with an understanding of the impact that words can have on both themselves and others. Students learned effective strategies to cope with rumours and gossip. Recognised and practiced the benefits of encouragement with peers, while fostering a culture of positivity and support to strengthen their self-worth.
The third and final segment of the LifeChanger programme 'Values and Integrity' will see students identifying core values and the importance of integrity to strengthen self-esteem. Students will learn practical strategies to make decisions that align with their values, while understanding how these decisions can impact their well-being.
LifeChanger is an organisation funded through the Cotton On Foundation, who work with young people to deliver preventative mental health programmes aimed at building social, emotional and resilience skills for life. Many of our students are familiar with LifeChanger, as several of our contributing primary and intermediate schools have their programmes running.
It is an exciting opportunity, and we are delighted to be able to introduce this initiative to Green Bay High School this year.
