Govt Donation Scheme

Kia ora e te whānau,
Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent survey about the Government donation scheme.
We received 411 responses, 61.6% suggested that we should keep the status quo, which is to continue requesting voluntary donations from families, and 38.4% suggested that we should opt into the government scheme.
Taking into account all factors, the Board has decided that in 2023, Green Bay High School will continue requesting voluntary donations from families.
This decision has been made to ensure the best overall outcome for all learners at the school. It means all of the courses, programs and benefits that we currently enjoy can continue, and that planned projects can be delivered. If we had opted into the government donation scheme, significant reductions would have been required.
The Board knows that the cost of living is increasing and putting strain on households. Be assured, donations will always be voluntary, and your child will not miss out on anything if you decide not to, or cannot, pay them. You are welcome to make your donation at any time of the year, and to split payments over time if that is easier for you. Just let us know, in confidence.
With funding information only recently received, we will take another look at course costs and look for opportunities to revise them if we can.
Thanks again to those who took the time to have a say.
Best wishes,
Norm Wallace Presiding Member Green Bay HIgh School
