Congratulations to GBHS student, Hollie Sorensen (Year 13), one of ten winners selected from over 1000 entries as part of the GirlBoss Edge: Healthcare programme.
Hollie's level 3 Biology teacher, Vivienne Milton, says she is honoured to share this message from Hon. Simeon Brown, Minister of Health, congratulating the ten exceptional winners of the 2026 Healthcare Challenge:
"...𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻, 17, Green Bay High School, created 𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘈𝘗𝘗, a personalised app helping young people build and maintain healthy everyday habits..."
Over 1,700 young women aged 15 to 21 took part in 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗕𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲: 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, a 10-day school holiday programme, held in April.
Participants connected with mentors and industry leaders, and were challenged to solve real health and well-being issues facing people and communities.
Hollie is passionate about medical public health issues and has her sights set on studying Health Science at University next year.
"Especially to address inequalities in terms of Women's Health."
GirlBoss, founded in late 2015 by Alexia Hilbertidou (Founder & CEO, GirlBoss), is New Zealand's largest organisation for young women, with over 17,500 members and programs implemented in more than 100 schools across New Zealand.
