Careers Centre 2026

Wednesday, 4th February 2026 at 11:30am

We are looking forward to a new year of supporting students on their career pathways from school.

The Careers Department aims to see every Year 13 student in Term 1 and every Year 12 student in Term 2.

Students can book a Careers Chat appointment via the Student Hub Careers tab

The Careers department will be using a new careers platform this year as part of the Web Portal (as we no longer use SchoolBridge). This feature will be called 'Careers Central' and all Careers modules which are delivered to all year levels through the year in extended form times, will be also be available through this platform. More information about this process is coming soon.

Listed below are a wide range of services the Careers team offers students throughout the year, additionally families can book Career Chats during PSTs (Parent/Student/Teacher conferences):

Term 1

  • One to one interview with the allocated form class Careers person. This is likely to be the same person students saw in Year 12
  • University Overview Presentations - this includes all 7 universities and our local polytechnic Unitec - their liaison people visit to give an overview of what courses the university offers and an insight into university life
  • Careers module in extended form time - completing this provides students with a sense of what you need to know transitioning from school

Term 2

  • Information will be distributed about university scholarships and workshops will be run by the Careers Centre to talk about the process of finding and applying for scholarships
  • The Term 2 holidays are a good time for students to start applying for scholarships and university courses
  • Students may like to book another interview with Careers Centre to discuss scholarships
  • Students will complete another Careers module in extended form time

Term 3

  • Our university liaison people return to explain the process of applying to university and choosing your papers
  • Once students have applied for university, they should apply to Studylink for a student loan or allowance if eligible (they will need to apply for a RealMe account if they don’t have one already).
  • Students will complete another Careers module in extended form time

Term 4

  • Students may like to check in with us to ensure they are on track to achieve UE and the rank score required for their course.
