On Tuesday, we had two boys' teams and one girls' team compete at the Rugby League 9-a-side Gala Day at Cornwall Park. Our two Boys' teams were strong contenders, with the Boys' Blue team going undefeated for the entire tournament and taking home the 1st Place finish! The girls were tough as nails, getting some awesome runaway tries and gaining some great experience. We hope to build on this tournament for next year and get a team together for the 13-a-side season.
Congratulations to the GBHS Boys' Hockey team, who have dominated the competition and won their Grand Final on Wednesday evening! Our defence was strong, leaving Henderson scoreless until the last few minutes. Our attack was relentless, getting three amazing goals past the keepeer. Leon Parkes set up a stunning assist in the top right corner for Lachie Williams to cheekily tap into the back of the net! Final score 3-1 to GBHS. A massive thank you to their coaches, Andy and Clinton, and manager, Kirstie, whose support has resulted in such a growth in the team and the sport overall. And to student coach, Ben Summerfield, for thaking their trainings every Tuesday. Big plans ahead for the 2027 Hockey season!
Our 1st XI Boys' Football team played in Warkworth on Friday last week to verse Mahurangi College. Our boys had a dominant 4-0 win with one of their greatest performances of the season.
The two Rugby teams and Junior Netball teams competed on Saturday through some terrible weather conditions, but no amount of water could stop them from playing their hearts out.
Congratulations to our Senior A Netball team who progress to the 1st/2nd place finals, our Senior Blue team who progress to the 3rd/4th final, and our Senior Green team who won their final game playing one of their best games of the season. The Social team also played their final game and have finished top the social league, well done girls! Once again, the Premier team is first equal on the table with Western Springs College, who they will play in next week's final pool game before semi-finals.
The 1st XI Girls' Football team had their first taste of Premier Grade Footy, taking on Baradene in the first round of the Knock-Out Cup. Although it wasn't the result they were after, they still proved that they will fit right into the grade for next year.
On Thursday, our Hockey Girls' team play their last round-robin game against Avondale College, and our U17 Blue and Green Basketball Boys' teams play here at school.
Be sure to catch our 1st XI Boys' Football game at Crum Park this Friday at 7:30pm as they go up against Avondale College.
Upcoming this Saturday, our Football teams will be back in action with the 2nd XI Boys' and 14 Development Boys' playing here at school. Junior Netball and the U85s Rugby Boys' will also be competing, with a bye for our U60s Rugby Boys.
