Green Bay High School strives to build closer relationships with individual learners and their families, to ensure that we understand cultural needs, and to shape how we reflect them in school life.
Our term 3 hui are a time to come together, plan and embrace success:
Thank you to our aiga who attended our Pasifika meeting, held on Tuesday 28 July. This fono focused on Course Selection and future pathways for 2027. Members of our Careers Department were in attendanceto answer questions and offer guidance. We were very lucky to have our talented Level 2 Hospitality students serving complimentary canapés! A huge thank you to our Hospitality teacher and Pasifika Success team member, Rashmi Holt, for organising this.
Please also mark Thursday 5 November 2026 in your diary for our annual Pasifika Awards Evening. More details on this celebratory night will follow later in the year.

Opening by our Kapahaka Rōpū
Key Note Presentation: 'Te Wāhanga Tuatahi - Our Land, Our People' Presentation, by Aleesha Tia Taua (Te Kawerau Ā Maki). Discover the story of Te Kawerau ā Maki and their ancestral relationship with Te Wao Nui a Tiriwa and the wider West Auckland region. Learn about the significance of local places and traditional Māori names that continue to shape our communities today. Explore the whakapapa of key tūpuna including Tiriwa, Rakataura, Hape, Hoturoa, Maki and Te Au o te Whenua, and gain an understanding of the deep connections between people, place and identity.
The presentation will also introduce the values that guide Te Kawerau ā Maki today, including Mana Motuhake (Self Determination), Mātauranga Māori (Culture Driven), Kaitiakitanga (Sustainability), Whanaungatanga (People Focused), and Auahatanga (Innovation). Together, these values continue to guide Te Kawerau ā Maki in their role as kaitiaki and as partners across environmental, educational, cultural, and community initiatives throughout the region.
