GBHS Newsletter (9 June 2023)
Kia ora e te whānau; From our free Netsafe event for parents to important assessments and celebrating languages, June is a big month at GBHS! Read on for highlights:
All parents/caregivers are invited to our free Netsafe evening (Thursday 15 June) which is all about keeping our young people safe online. Netsafe is an independent non-profit organisation and it would be great to see you at the presentation. See article below for details.
Next week, our Year 10 and some Year 11 students will complete their literacy and numeracy digital exams. These exams give students the opportunity to gain NCEA Level 1 literacy and numeracy credits. An email with detailed information has also been sent to parents/caregivers earlier today.
Also running next week is the Loves-Me-Not programme for Year 12 students (Tuesday 13 June). This long-running programme focuses on healthy relationships and is run in conjunction with our local police officers and GBHS staff. We know students get a lot out of this session.
This past week was all about languages for International Languages Week. The Languages team created a fantastic event showcasing student work inspired by artists from different countries. We enjoyed meeting all the whānau members who had come along.
It is disappointing that there has been no resolution between the PPTA and the MOE which has resulted in an increase of industrial action starting next week. Please see the article below to find out more details about rostering home next week.
It looks like the days ahead will be beautiful weather wise - I look forward to seeing many of you at sport over the weekend.
