CAA Digital Exams

Year 10 CAA Digital Literacy and Numeracy exams are just around the corner!
Green Bay High School is continuing to offer the new NCEA Literacy and Numeracy standards in 2025. These will be held in Week 4 of Term 2. The Literacy and Numeracy standards aim to provide foundational skills to support students in further studies, work, and life. It is an important opportunity to complete these exams for 2025.
Our English and Maths departments have been preparing your child in readiness to have a positive experience using the new digital platform, and our teachers are committed to supporting your child to achieve in these assessments.
In preparation for these digital exams, it is imperative that all Year 10 students create their NZQA Learner account using their NSN number. This information has been emailed home to students, parents/caregivers. If you did not receive this, please contact [email protected] to update your contact details.
Year 10 Numeracy
- Tuesday 20th of May (Term 2, Week 4), periods 1 & 2, 8:40am - 10:45am
- Students will need to bring a calculator with them. Any issues please discuss with your mathematics teacher.
Year 10 Literacy (Reading and Writing)
- WRITING: Wednesday 21st of May (Term 2, Week 4), periods 1 & 2, 8:40am - 10:45am
- READING: Thursday 22nd of May (Term 2, Week 4), periods 1 & 2, 9:20am - 11:20am
Please note that on Thursdays school starts ar the later time of 9.20am, so students sitting this assessment need to be at school BY 9:00am
- In order to be fully prepared on the day, students need to arrive 20 mins early e.g. 8:20am on Tuesday/Wednesday and 9:00am on Thursday to their allocated room (alphabetically ordered).
**In preparation for Reading, Writing and Numeracy assessments, the following information has been sent to students/paretns/caregiver via email. If you have not received it, please contact the school office ph: 817-8173 ext 201 to update your contact details:
- Be ready and be prepared, support will be provided at school
- All Year 10 students must create their account and NSN number HOW TO CREATE YOUR NZQA ACCOUNT

- It is important to practise digital exams: FIND PAST DIGITAL EXAMS
- In Writing and Numeracy, you can bring your headphones to access text-to-speech functions (Polly)
- As this is a digital exam, it is extremely important that students arrive at their designated examination room with a fully charged device and with a charger.
- Students who qualify for Special Assessment Conditions will be notified prior to the examination with regard to their individual needs and the expectations around this.

DID YOU KNOW? GBHS's Maths faculty is offering support for students every Tuesday and Thursday after school in preparation for the upcoming Numeracy & Literacy CAA exams and encourages Year 10 students to complete 2 or 3 problems a day from their numeracy workbook and/or from the CAA preparation posts that are on their Google classroom. Be sure to mark your answers too.
There are some great video resources on the Google classroom that go over many of the recent papers - a link to an example is HERE.
- NUMERACY workshops: Held after school (3:20pm - 4.00pm) in F1
- Students can go along - there is no need to sign up.
