Sport Scholarships

Congratulations to Isaac Gear and Alexis Heckler, 2024 recipients of Don Oliver Youth Sport Award scholarships.

The awards ceremony was held last night, with both Year 12 students receiving a Training Grant from the Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation.

This is Isaac’s second year receiving a Training Grant for his achievements in surf lifesaving. Alexis is a new recipient and has been recognised for her achievements in sailing.

Isaac and Alexis would like to thank the Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation and it’s sponsors for the incredible support.

The Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation (DOYSF) was founded in 1996 to honour the memory of New Zealand champion and Olympic weightlifter - a proud 'Westie'.

DOYSF provides promising young West Auckland athletes with support and mentorship to help them reach their potential on a national and/or international level.

Athletes are selected by an independent panel of experts comprising former top sports people and leading sports administrators who take into consideration the achievements of each applicant, the degree of difficulty, and the opinions of their code, club and coaches.
