New Zealand International Biology Olympiad:
Green Bay High School is proud to share the phenomenal news that Lukáš Correll-Trnka (Year 13) has been successful in passing his SECOND entrance exam for the NZIBO (International Biology Olympiad) team - and is currently ranked within the top 25 in New Zealand!
As a result, Lukáš has been selected for the residential Practical Training Camp during the April (2025) school holidays. During the camp, Lukáš will take part in a full programme of practical laboratory sessions, field work, and seminars with some of New Zealand’s top scientists. The camp includes both practical and theoretical assessments - with the NZ team of four to be selected on the basis of academic performance throughout the camp.
The top four will go on to represent New Zealand at the International Biology Olympiad, held in Quezon City, Philippines (July, 2025).
Last year, we reported that Lukáš was amongst the top 290 students in the country for the NZIBO (International Biology Olympiad) team selection process, after passing the first of a series of entrance exams open to all senior Biology students throughout New Zealand - this exam is very challenging, requiring lots of lateral thinking and the application of biological concepts to new contexts.
Lukáš continued to work hard over the past few months in the lead-up to the second exam, taking part in tutorials and discussions while being assessed on a wide range of biology topics.
The Practical Training Camp Selection Examination (held on 26 February) consisted of a two-hour, online multi-choice exam sat under formal exam supervision.
Well done Lukáš - we wish you all the very best!
