Pasifika Fono Evening
Wednesday, 3rd April 2024 at 1:50pm
Bula Vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Fakatalofa atu, Kia orana, Mālō e lelei, Mālō nī, Talofa lava, Tēnā koutou katoa ... and warm Pacific greetings to all parent/caregivers and supporters of our Pacific students, it was great to you at our fono last week!
During the evening we introduced key staff available to support our Pasifika students at school:
- Elaine Webb - Deputy Principal: [email protected]
- Seán Finan - ICol - Pasifika Success: [email protected]
- Ulata Hurt - Pacific Liason: [email protected]
- Savali Tafi - Pacific Support, PE and Health teacher: [email protected]
The evening was very productive, with discussions about what we hope to achieve to provide additional opportunities to share and celebrate all Pacific cultures. One of our goals is to promote Pacific Language Weeks throughout the year, with whole school activities, crafts, performances, and shared lunches. To do this successfully we need some support. If you would like to offer your skills to help us celebrate your language and/or share your cultural dance performance-related talents and knowledge, please get in touch with us via email (details above).
GBHS will host a fono each term. Please get in touch with anything you would like to see discussed/presented, or how you would like the fono facilitated. To help with your planning, the dates for the fono are:
- Thursday 13th June 2024
- Wednesday 21st August 2024
- Thursday 14th November 2024
