GBHS Newsletter (Week 8) 27 November - 1 December, 2023
NCEA external exams came to an end yesterday and I know that there will have been a collective sigh of relief across the country. Congratulations to all our students who sat exams - your summer holiday can now officially begin! Huge thanks to our exam dream team led by Exam Centre Manager Robin Achmad and our in-school team led by Kheang Ov and Amber Osborn. Tonight is our Year 13 Graduation, which marks the final school event for Year 13 students before they move into the next stage in their lives. It’s always a fantastic event and I am so proud of this cohort of students and all that they have achieved.
I had the privilege of going out to Peacehaven Rest Home yesterday to see our chamber group and choir perform. It was really heartwarming to see the joy that music brought to the residents and the connection they made with our students during the concert. Our students definitely kicked off the Christmas season!
Last night, seven of our Pasifika students graduated from the MC4 Leadership Programme. I was so proud of the commitment and dedication these students demonstrated across the 15 week course!
I’m really looking forward to next week because there’s so much happening for our junior students - stay tuned for more updates next week.
Have a great weekend. Fiona Barker, PRINCIPAL
Sparkly Spangles
Community Resthome Musical Tour! The Christmas spirit is beginning to bubble under the surface. Residents of Pinesong, Crestwood, and Powley House were treated to some early Christmas cheer yesterday by GBHS’s very own Sparkly Spangles (Chamber Music Group, and Choir) Musical Tour. Spreading joy and goodwill to all, GBHS's musical elves got toes tapping and hearts singing! It's great to see our community coming together. Fabulous work everyone!
