How do the Kiwibank Local Hero Awards work?
- Local Hero nominations are divided up into their regions across Aotearoa.
- The top 100 (highest scoring) Local Hero nominees across New Zealand are awarded Kiwibank Local Hero Medallists - who are then considered for the national title of 2025 Kiwibank New Zealand Local Hero of the Year Te Pou Toko o te Tau.
The 10 semi-finalists for this national title will be announced in December 2024, the top three finalists in February 2025, and the ultimate winner will be revealed at an Awards Gala in March 2025.
