Staff V Student Games 2023
Thursday, 19th October 2023 at 2:20pm
A lot of fun, but NOT for the fainthearted! ...
Daily updates:
Day 1 Monday / Touch Rugby: Staff 1 / Students 0
Staff are off to a flying start, winning the first round of our Staff V Students annual sports event (albeit by a verrrrry narrow margin) during yesterday's lunchtime Touch tournament. It was great to see so many of you out playing and showing your support. Staff are limbering up, in preparation for today's lunchtime event on the field. Will our Staff team remain victorious, or will the youth and fitness of our Student team give them a run for their money? Be sure to head along to watch today's Football fanatics!
Day 2 Tuesday / Football: Staff 2 / Students 1
Well folks, news just in ... the sudden cloud burst of rainfall didn't put a damper on the Staff V Students lunchtime footie match today, with Staff once again coming out victorious with a 1-0 defeat.
Chin up students, tomorrow you can recharge and get ready for Thursday's Dodgeball tournament ... and if the mutterings of sore knees after today's match are anything to go by, age may be to your advantage!
Day 3 Thursday / Dodgeball: Result: Tie
GBHS's staff remain UNDEFEATED in the 2023 annual Staff V Students lunchtime games. The energetic (and ferocious) dipping, diving, ducking, and dodging that took place in today's match could not separate the young from the old - with a final Dodgeball score deemed a tie. Well done everyone, it was a hoot to watch! (Although if points could be given for acrobatic/cartwheel maneuvers, then Mr Arslanian would be worthy of a winning point).
Tomorrow's grande finale in the Staff V Students games is Netball - come along and cheer your side on!
Day 4 Friday / Netball: Result (TBA)
Staff V Students Lunchtime Games: Day 4 Friday / Netball: Result (TBA)
Who will end the week on a high note? Today's lunchtime match is happening at this very moment ... will we see the Staff team victorious, coming out as the strongest side, and keeping up with GBHS tradition? Or perhaps the Student team can claw back some credentials and end the week with a win? Be sure to watch this space for the final score!
Pictured in action is our very own Sportsperson of The Year: Drew Clemas (Year 13) in great defence mode, as GBHS Sports Director: Hamish Mackay, looks to get a clean pass away.
UPDATE: Well, the Student Team put their heart and soul into today's game, but were just no match for our very fit and multi-talented Staff Team - who won with a whopping 24-14 win. Looks like another year (in a row) for the Teachers to be crowned the 2023 Staff V Students Champions.
Thanks for the camaraderie and competition - you all deserve a decent rest over the long weekend ahead!
