Congratulations to Nicole Polke, HOD Languages!
Green Bay High School is very proud to share the news that Nicole Polke has been awarded the New Zealand Association of Language Teachers (NZALT) Award for Excellence in Teaching German.
This prestigious award recognises Nicole's outstanding contribution to language teaching and learning over many years. Nicole extends her students' experience of their target language, is generous with her talents and resources, and regularly shares ideas and materials with colleagues.
In a letter of congratulations, the President of the NZALT association, Juliet Kennedy, states Nicole's language classes are always innovative, creative, student-centered, and motivating.
"As Head of Languages in a large and progressive coeducational school, she has worked intelligently and strategically for the benefit of as many languages as possible, collaborating with colleagues and the wider community."
Pictured above is Nicole with German language student, Mathias Stovring, who was selected to travel to Germany on a fully funded Pedagogical Exchange Service (PAD) Scholarship, and spent four weeks in Germany in June/July last year.
Nicole has recently taken on the role of president with great success, having been the Auckland representative on the committee of the national German Teachers' Association, GANZ (German in Aotearoa NZ) for many years.
