MARIA SAWAYA & JINAN ALGHUEIRI:

Congratulations to Maria Sawaya (Year 12) and Jinan Alghueiri (Year 12) who received prestigious awards at the inaugural Emerging Ethnic Leaders Breakfast, held at the Waipuna Conference Centre earlier this week!

Hosted by MOE and NZ Ethnic Woman's Trust, with keynote speaker Sara Youssef, from Cairo, who linked in and spoke about leadership opportunities - and how every failure is a learning opportunity.

NZ Ethnic Women’s Trust (NZEWT), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, builds upon the success of the Learning Communities Hub programme and the 2024 Academic Awards night, this was an opportunity to celebrate Tāmaki Makaurau’s growing diversity and champion the positive contributions of our rangatahi.

The Emerging Ethnic Leaders Breakfast recognises students from diverse ethnic backgrounds who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service in their schools or communities. This event aims to foster stronger partnerships between students, teachers, schools, and both local and central government bodies.
