Celebrating Schools’ Pride Week is an important way for school communities to affirm that rainbow students, staff and whānau belong.
A group of students and staff from GBHS attended 'Lil Gay Out 2024' at Hobsonville Point Secondary School earlier this week.
Students had an opportunity to meet students from other school and to celebrate Pride Week all together.
Each student attended two different workshops, listened to a Q&A panel with various guests speakers, and watched a performance by Anita Wigl'it.
While students were having a great time, teachers were learning how to support schools to become more inclusive of queer students and community.
GBHS Pride Week promoted inclusivity and awareness:
• Monday: Badge and Bracelet making in E15
• Tuesday: SAGA shared lunch in E15
• Wednesday: Lunchtime movie in the library
• Thursday: Craft in E15
• Friday: (Non-Uniform day) Bake Sale and Face Painting in the auditorium foyer
Schools’ Pride Week Aotearoa takes a strengths-based approach to combating rainbow-focused school bullying and discrimination.
