FIT, FUN, FABULOUS!
GBHS's Junior dance troupe, led and choreographed by Year 13 Dance student Bronte Sorby, and managed by Kerrily Aitchison, competed in the school's first-ever commercial dance competition on Friday 14 June, at Westlake Auditorium.
The National Dance Challenge was a huge competition to enter for first-time entrants (GBHS was the only 'new' school to enter out of 23 secondary schools from across Aotearoa), however, the 12 strong Year 9-11 students competed with two confident, technically tidy and aesthetically pleasing routines, winning a HIGH Silver award for their excellence!
Congratulations to Jess Andrews (Yr 9), Kyra Clark (Yr 11), Hayley Cunningham (Yr 10), Mila Dailey (Yr 9), Maia Rose Faughey (Yr 9), Grace Manuela (Yr 9), Addison Mildon (Yr 9), Ava Moore Williams (Yr 9), Maia Ogiyama (Yr 11), Charlotte Poole (Yr 9), Arabella Ray (Yr 11), Amelie Ray (Yr 9) and Bronte Sorby (Yr 13).
In other Dance news: Congratulations to GBHS dancers Amelie Ray (Yr 9), Arabella Ray (Yr 11) and Ruby Wyness (Yr 12) who competed in the Studio competition on Sunday, 16 June. Their team with DANZA was awarded National Dance Challenge's NZ’s Senior Team of the Year for 2024!
