Mock United Nations Assembly:
Last week, three of our Year 13 students attended the Model United Nations Assembly at Rosmini College, organised by Rotary New Zealand.
Natalia Hinvest, Hannah Lees, and Amelie Bourhill represented the nation of France in the General Assembly. They were also on the Security Council, and delivered speeches on a range of global issues including gender equality and territorial sovereignty and took advantage of the opportunity to work with students from other schools to solve these issues, negotiating support for various amendments and advocating for France's position on global affairs.
The event concluded with a keynote address by the former Labour MP and programme manager of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan Chris Carter, who shared his valuable insights about working in the UN with the students.
Natalia, Hannah, and Amelie did a superb job of representing both the nation of France and Green Bay High School, and should be proud of their conduct across the two days.
