Auckland Writers' Festival

Scholarship Students:

A group of GBHS Scholarship English students attended the Auckland Writers' Festival 'school day' at Aotea Centre, yesterday - a chance for schools to get a peek before the public!

After listening to inspiring talks from four writers, Elizabeth Acevedo (United States: Multi-award-winning international writer and slam poet), Steph Matuku (NZ Award-winning author and screenwriter), Rachael King (NZ Award-winning author and former literary festival director), and Airana Ngarewa (NZ's No. 1 charts best-selling author and educator).

Students made the most of having the opportunity to ask authors questions (and get books signed).

This was a great experience for the students - and teachers alike!
